Overview

Downtown Skyport (formerly Downtown Manhattan Heliport at Pier 6, East River) was awarded to Downtown Skyport LLC — a Skyports Infrastructure and Groupe ADP joint venture — in December 2024 following a competitive NYCEDC RFP. The JV assumed operations in early 2025 and unveiled the Downtown Skyport brand on April 3, 2025. Between April 23 and May 1, 2026, Downtown Skyport hosted five Joby eVTOL landings during Joby's Electric Skies Tour, while Joby also completed New York City's first point-to-point eVTOL demo flights linking JFK with Manhattan heliports in under ten minutes. This makes NYC one of the strongest U.S. near-term AAM corridors, although commercial service still depends on certification, operating approvals, and network buildout.
